About the project

Wave emerged as an immediate response to the full-scale invasion, offering a safe place to live and work for artists who had left war zones or occupied territories. The residency brought together 20 participants from different artistic fields, many of whom were seeking a way to remain in Ukraine while rebuilding the conditions for everyday life.

Providing accommodation was inseparable from creating a space for communication and artistic exchange. The format allowed creative processes to begin again through proximity, conversation and shared work, at a moment when established networks had been disrupted. The project understood support for contemporary Ukrainian culture and democratic principles as a practical task: making room for people to stay, connect and continue their practices amid displacement.
