All the Colors of the Spectrum Are White Light

A three-part exhibition project by Viktor Sydorenko, tracing the transformation of the artist’s recurring Character through questions of historical trauma, mortality and the future of the human body.

The programme includes Technologies of Trauma, The Infinite Life of Death, and Year Zero. The Idea of Light.

About the project

Viktor Sydorenko’s interdisciplinary project follows the recurring Character through three interconnected exhibitions, moving from collective trauma towards questions of mortality and the possibility of a posthuman future. Rather than treating each image as an isolated work, the project constructs an environment in which painting, installation and optical experiments become parts of a larger system.

Technologies of Trauma revisits the social architecture of the twentieth century through works from Cytachronisms, Amnesia, Witnesses and Millstones of Time. It asks how traumatic events are represented, inherited and made into the basis of collective identity — and whether society can build relationships on a foundation other than the repeated opposition of victim and perpetrator.

The Infinite Life of Death turns to cryonics, imagined resurrection and bioethics. The hope of preserving a body for another time raises questions that extend beyond technology: who might receive a second chance, what would remain of identity, and how would an existence without death transform our understanding of life?

Year Zero. The Idea of Light brings these concerns into the artist’s optical experiments and the Character’s encounter with itself. “Zero” becomes both uncertainty and transformative potential. The final exhibition asks how humanity might move beyond its present limits without reproducing its destructive hierarchies — and how to imagine the posthuman without losing the capacity for humanity.
