Bored & Horny
A solo project by Dmytro Ehrlich bringing painting and installation into dialogue with underground music. Masks, shifting identities and erotic fantasy become ways to address boredom and the pressure of familiar social roles.
About the project
Dmytro Ehrlich’s Bored & Horny builds a subjective space of boredom, desire and erotic projection. His paintings and installations mix references to Mannerism, David Hockney, plants, masks and underground music, turning sharply felt social experiences into an aesthetic environment.
The absence of faces behind colourful masks loosens the connection between an image and a fixed personality. Viewers can imagine someone else in the figure, or recognise their own fantasies in it. The question “Are you excited when you’re bored?” remains open, with no single response able to exhaust the work.
The curatorial approach foregrounds the artist’s relationship with underground music and the way that experience enters his visual practice. The exhibition addresses consciousness and desire during moments of apparent inactivity, when boredom can become a space for projection rather than simply an absence of stimulation.
