About the project
Posthuman — through Odesa’s raw, unfiltered lens brings different generations of Odesa video art into a programme shaped by the experience of war, bodily vulnerability and endurance. Its central paradox is that, even as we imagine a posthuman horizon, our connection to humanity remains rooted in the ability to suffer, persist and struggle with our transient bodies.
The programme moves through a cultural landscape whose resilience is inseparable from its break with the post-Soviet era. Works by Dasha Chechushkova, Dmytro Ehrlich, Ute Kilter, Victor Malyarenko, Philip Perlovsky and Oleksiy Shmurak offer distinct approaches to performance, moving image and the limits of human experience.
Developed through the partnership between the Museum of Odesa Modern Art and Videocity, the programme was presented in two parts at the REX Box and HKB Mediothek in Bern during October–December 2025. Additional selections appeared through videokunst.ch in Zurich and Bern-Bümpliz. A presentation by Andrii Siguntsov connected the screenings with performance documents and the wider history of Odesa’s artistic scene.
