L’amour de précision ou la troisième guerre mondiale

An exhibition of Igor Gusev’s work responding to war through visual puzzles and apocalyptic imagery. The project considers imagination as a way to confront rapidly changing realities and the psychological experience of war.

About the project

Igor Gusev’s visual puzzles and apocalyptic fantasies respond to a reality that war changes almost daily. His method of “neuromodernism” uses the collision of images to make these shifts visible, turning imagination into a means of examining the conditions in which we live.

The curatorial text begins with an uncomfortable proposition: history offers little support for treating peace as humanity’s natural state. Knowledge of aggression, violence, weapons and the consequences of war is deeply embedded in contemporary civilisation. The question is what we do with that knowledge, and whether we can use it to think beyond the expectations that have failed us.

In this context, imagination is neither a distraction nor an escape. It becomes a way to confront psychological terror, anticipate change and resist the paralysis of surprise. Gusev’s works hold catastrophe and visual absurdity together, asking how an image can help us recognise a world whose rules are continually being rewritten.
