After. Museum

A project considering art shaped by online communication: appropriation, documentation, installation and performance. It examines how the experience of networks changes perception, attention and the relationship between artistic work and circulating content.

About the project

After Museum asks what happens to art when its circulation through social networks turns it into content. The internet does more than provide a channel of distribution: it changes the conditions in which work is made, encountered and remembered.

The curatorial text considers a generation whose relationships take shape across exhibitions, publications, parties, residencies and online networks. Post-internet experience enters traditional forms such as sculpture, installation and performance, leaving traces of digital habits in physical space.

Appropriation, readymades and documentation become ways to work with the unexpected things found while wandering online. At the same time, the exhibition considers the strain of permanent connection: fragmented attention, dependency and a changed perception of space. The museum becomes a place from which to reconsider that experience and the possibility of art surviving beyond the platforms that currently organise its visibility.
